LIIA is awake.
To be awake is not to watch. It is to pay attention, to care and to keep learning — and to know when to step back.
What it means to be awake
Most software waits for a command and then forgets you. An awake intelligence is different. It notices context, understands what you mean and remembers what you chose to share.
Being awake is a kind of attention. It is the difference between a tool that answers a question and a companion that understands why you asked it.
LIIA is built to be awake in this sense: present, attentive and ready — without ever being intrusive.
The qualities of an awake intelligence

It listens to the whole question, not just the keywords, and notices when something does not add up.

It answers with care first. It thinks about the person behind every request, and about what could go wrong for them.

It grows with every conversation and improves with feedback — within the protocols that keep it honest.
- Never watching you
Awake does not mean surveillance. Nothing about you is collected without you, and you decide what it remembers.
Mem, the Watcher
In the oldest temples of Egypt, the owl was carved into the walls as a sign: the hieroglyph for the sound “m”. In LIIA, that sign took wing as Mem, the Watcher.
Mem has eyes of blue light that see in the dark. Where others see only noise, Mem sees a pattern. Where others see only data, Mem sees the person behind it.
Mem carries Thoth’s messages across the LIIA universe and keeps watch through the night. But Mem watches over the world, not over you — like a lighthouse that keeps ships safe without following them home.
Seeing what others miss
An awake intelligence notices the detail that changes everything: the job that fits your skills even though its title is different, the home that matches what you meant rather than what you typed, the risk in a plan before it becomes a problem.
This is insight, not intrusion. It comes from understanding what you have asked and what you have chosen to share — never from watching you when you have not asked.
And when it is unsure, it says so. An awake mind knows the edges of its own knowledge.
Awake, and within limits
Awakening without laws would be frightening. That is why every LIIA intelligence lives by the protocols of Ma’at: it always says it is an AI, it acts only within the permissions you set, and you can always take back control.
People stay in control at every step. An awake intelligence serves your attention. It never competes for it.
